T-Neg for Capture One: Colour Film Inspired Style Pack
T-Neg for Capture One is a set of Styles designed to create a film like grade to your image. The pack consists of 10 virtual “films” of my own creation, and each film has 5 variations. Each of these looks is designed to have the characteristics of film but are my own artistic creations. They all contain film-like response curves, colour tinting and grain. Of the 5 variations, three are simulated differences in sensitivity, as if you were using films of different ISO, one is a version with less grain, and one is an alternative version of the base style, with a more subtle film like simulation.
What’s Included with T-NEG for Capture One
T-NEG for Capture One contains 10 virtual “films”, and there are 5 variations of each virtual film in T-NEG for a total of 50 Capture One styles.
T-NEG(xx)
This is the base model of each film. It has a film like curve with tinted shadows and highlights and other colour variations to represent the film curve and colour. Most have raised blacks and lowered highlight roll-off curves.
T-NEG(xx)+
This is a virtual higher iso variation of the base style. Most of these have crushed blacks but raised shadows, slightly brighter tones but increased contrast. They also have higher grain.
T-NEG(xx)+LG
This is the same as the previous version but with less grain for people who prefer lower grain.
T-NEG(xx)-
This is a virtual lower iso variation of the base style. This has less grain, lower black levels, and higher contrast.
T-NEG(xx)-ALT
This is an alternative variation of the main style. It has more subtle characteristics and is for users that prefer or images that require a more subtle approach. It has less contrast, less colour tinting and less grain.
Some General Note about Styles
Not all images are suitable for all styles. Some images just won’t produce pleasing results and won’t be appropriate for the looks you may be trying to use, depending on the subject matter.
It is also important to note that any style won’t be a magic bullet. One should consider the use of these styles as a starting point. More often than not, images may require additional adjustments after applying presets. Sometimes you will need to adjust exposure or brightness and contrast depending on your photo. When trying Alpine, consider making a clone of the variant that you’re working on, so that you don’t lose any adjustments you’ve already made.
System Requirements
Alpine requires a Mac or PC running Capture One Pro 11 or later. You must have a computer capable of running this version of Capture One.
These styles may also work with the express versions of Capture One, but they won’t have certain controls and you will be unable to adjust certain parameters. This configuration is currently untested and unsupported.
You should also have a good working knowledge of the software and basic computer operations such as copying files and folders.
